The new home gave Jessica, her mom, and Miguel (the only boy of the house) their own rooms, an upstairs loft for the teens dubbed the "Teen Canteen" where they can hang out away from the grown-ups, a smart kitchen with double islands, as well as laundry room that can text the family when the load is done (pretty ideal for a family of five teens). As expected, tears were shed, excitement was high. Finally, we got to hear the iconic phrase we haven't heard in years- "MOVE THAT BUS!" Ferguson, the Mosley family, as well as members of the Bakerfield community shouted all huddled up in front of the home as the bus slowly revealed the family's new crib. The building process went smoothly thanks to the hard work of John Balfanz Homes, and all the volunteers and donors involved (Locklyn estimates around 1,000 volunteers help on each project). Food Network star Tyler Florence, who is also an award-winning kitchen designer, joined the project, too ( here's who else will guest star this season).
As the team planned out the home's new design, they had a few things in mind, one of which was an ultra-spacious and efficient kitchen. Despite their hardships, however, the family still remained positive and worked to give back when they could-on Thanksgiving, they made dinners for the homeless.ĭuring the emotional episode, the Mosleys were sent away for five days while the Extreme Makeover team worked its magic to double the size of the home and give it a Spanish California makeover.
The family had been sharing beds as well as a single bathroom between the seven of them. Since then, the six of them have been living with Jessica's mother, Pamela Sue Chapin, in her three-bedroom, one-bathroom house. One month later, he passed away in an accident, and the ownership of the house could not be transferred so Jessica and her children were forced to move out. Jessica's father, Jeffrey Chapin, purchased a home for the newly blended family. The mom-of-two became a mom to five, but luckily she had the support of her parents.
In 2017, Jessica had been working on their case, when they were deemed unadoptable by the judge. She also has three adopted kids, who are also biological siblings: Miguel, 12, Cheyenne, 16, and Annie, 13. Single mom and social worker Jessica Mosley has two biological kids, Jordyn, 12, and Makynzie, 15.
